This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to operate laminating presses and ancillary equipment to laminate engineered wood panels in a manufacturing facility.

The unit applies to individuals who work as production operators and technicians. Operators generally work under broad or limited direction to complete routine activities related to their own work, and take responsibility for their work.

All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.

Transfer finished engineered wood panels for further processing according to workplace health and safety procedures
Dispose of sub-standard laminated material according to environmental protection practices
Coordinate machine shutdown with other line operators according to workplace health and safety procedures
Strip and clean laminating press according to workplace procedures
Dispose of or store excess bonding agent according to environmental protection practices
Keep machine clear of dust and debris according to workplace health and safety procedures
Record and report production outcomes and laminating press and ancillary equipment faults to appropriate personnel
